Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith joined Dukes & Bell for his weekly appearance on the show and talked why his bye week was spent at the office working with the new starting quarterback.
When asked if he worked with Ridder during the bye week.
“That’s a very fair assumption, that’s part of the job,” Smith said. “I love what I do, I’m fortunate as hell to coach football. I made sure I got home in time to have dinner with my kids, but we were certainly working here. He’s excited to play, I’m excited to see what he can do and so we will see where things go, it’s a big game for us and we’re excited to get down there.”
Smith talked about the buzz around Ridder’s first start.
“I certainly feel it as well, it’s just ironic that the circumstances where the bye happened, where we are right now, where we were trending. I think it’s real, it’s not only that where we are it’s also where Desmond is right now. We expect him to play well, I think if this would have been a month ago, obviously if we had to play him we would of but we feel a lot better where he’s at right now going into this game in week fifteen.”
