The Atlanta Falcons are opening training camp and it's largely agreed that there is NOT a quarterback competition between Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke.
While previewing Falcons training camp coverage Andy and Randy discussed the role of Desmond Ridder heading into his second training camp as a professional as QB1 and the pros and cons of declaring him the Falcons starter.
The Falcons added QB Taylor Heinicke early in the offseason on a 2-year deal worth $14 Million, which will make him one of the higher-paid backup QB's in the league, but have decided, at least publicly, to not to give him a chance to win the job in camp.
Heinicke, who is in his 9th year out of Old Dominion, has played in 34 games and has 34 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in that time. Desmond Ridder has played in 4 games with 2 TD's and 0 INT's in that action.
