After a 20-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints where the team started slow, shot themselves in the foot constantly, and wasted three consecutive chances to tie the game or take the lead, Atlanta Falcons fans didn’t feel great. But they weren’t necessarily worried, either.
However, after Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos where the Falcons had untimely penalties, never got anything going offensively besides maybe three decent drives, and couldn’t stop the Broncos from doing anything defensively, there’s now some panic circulating around the fan base. The Morning Shift explained why there’s no need to panic about the Falcons right now.
“If you’re a playoff team and you’ve got a playoff caliber roster, and a playoff coaching staff that knows how to win games you should beat the Raiders, the Giants, and the Panthers,” Beau Morgan said.
Beau followed up that point by saying the Falcons should also be able to steal at least one game out of their matchups with the Chargers, Vikings, and Commanders, and go 4-2 in their last six games.
Another reason Beau believes it’s not time to hit the panic button is because he believes this team isn’t the same Falcons team from the past three years. He genuinely believes in them, but also thinks they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
“It’s not last year, it’s not the same coaching staff, it’s not the same quarterback, there’s players that are different,” Morgan said.
Having to stew on two straight bad losses isn’t great for the team or the Falcons’ fan base, but every team in the NFL goes through good and bad stretches, and it seems like the rest of league has maybe adjusted to what the Falcons have been doing, and now it’s time for the Falcons to adjust to the adjustment, and there’s no better time to do that than the bye week.
