The Atlanta Falcons have been waiting for their former fourth overall pick to take that next step and emerge as one of the NFL's best. Kyle Pitts has shown moments of brilliance in his short career, but hasn't yet put it all together.

Kirk Cousins challenged his tight end to be the very best he could be earlier this week during practices in Miami, not just on Sunday's but on every day leading up to a game.

"[Cousins] is looking out for him personally, but I take away from it that Kyle Pitts' career hangs in the balance," Steak said about Pitts on Friday morning's edition of The Steakhouse. "Who does he want to be? Does he want to be a Pro Bowler or a Hall of Famer?

"It sounds like Kirk Cousins is saying, 'You are not reaching your potential in terms of getting after it'."

Pitts has received the benefit of the doubt over the course of the last two seasons after a sustaining a knee injury and suffering from poor quarterback play from the likes of Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder. His rookie year flashed the potential he has with competent play from under center, but not he has to prove it.

Not that he is slacking off in practice, but a lot is going to be expected out of Pitts this season and he needs to squeeze every ounce that he can. If that means finding an extra gear in practice, then so be it.

"It's a pretty baller move by Kirk Cousins -- and by the way, here's how he could do it," Steak finished. "I [Cousins] controls your touches, I control your numbers. If you want that next contract to look like a mega, I'm the one that controls it. So you'd better work harder."
