On Friday Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael continued to talk about what’s going on with Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks and Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans, specifically asking the question “Is this new player empowerment era good for the NFL?”
“It’s good for the players because they get to determine basically what they want to do as far as their legacy…but if you talk about the league, the 32 owners, the Commissioner, the front office people, no they don’t like it. They don’t want player empowerment. They want to have control of these things. They want to determine if a player can leave,” said Randy when answering the question about the player empowerment era.
“If there is any worry about this becoming a slippery slope of every player in the NFL deciding well you are not giving me enough carries so I want this or that, well tough break man you’re our second string running back, that’s the way that it works. When you are Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson, one of these guys, Matthew Stafford in Detroit…then I think you can dictate it in a different way,” added Andy.
