Today the Falcons take the practice field in Flowery Branch for the first time under new Head Coach Arthur Smith.
With the start of Training Camp comes uncontrolled optimism that for another few weeks the Falcons sit atop the NFC South, in a 4-way tie at 0-0.
Despite the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers returning all 22 starters from last season, the Falcons do have some real reasons to be hopeful heading into the season.
Even with the 4-12 record in the 2020 season, there is a legitimate defense to the idea that the team was better than the record showed. The way they lost games the first half of the season alone showcased that.
Adding Kyle Pitts with the 4th overall pick should boost a few aspects of the offense and adjusting the defense under new coordinator Dean Pees has some wondering if the talent on the team can finally live up to expectations.
The Falcons are picked by quite a few outlets to be the 2nd best team in the NFC South, most don't feel that is a stretch, and with a new coach and a new GM taking the reins, fans are feeling as optimistic now as they have since the Super Bowl season.
Whether this is the start of the franchise's turnaround is yet to be seen, but there's definitely hope that it is.
