NBA writer Keith Smith joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the Hawks-Sixers series and could the Hawks be at risk of losing a big reason for the team's turnaround in Interim Coach Nate McMillan?
When asked if there will be a market for Nate McMillan in the NBA.
“If they are able to hang on and either win this series or really be competitive with Philadelphia take it six or seven games you’ve got to try to lock him up before he takes any other interviews,” Smith said. “Because he’s not gonna be there very long, if he gets to a couple of these other teams with openings, they’re probably gonna jump on him and you might have a couple of teams who still haven’t made a move yet that might be kinda monitoring to see who is available.”
“There’s been a belief around the league that Nate McMillan is a good coach and given the right group of guys he can really do some stuff and I think we’re really seeing that now. If you’re the Hawks you wanna get that done sooner rather than later because otherwise you’re gonna end up in a position where you may not be able to retain the guy who helped save your season.”
