The Hawks won their fourth straight game last night thanks to Dejounte Murray’s game winning shot in overtime over Jrue Holiday with a tenth of a second left in the extra period. Now, while the Hawks current win streak have all but secured them to at least be a play-in tournament team, the latest update on Trae Young’s recovery from his torn ligament in his left pinky finger makes it seem like there is a growing possibility Atlanta might be without their superstar even in the postseason, but with the way the Hawks are playing right now could a Trae Young-less Hawks team still make a postseason run? The Morning Shift discussed it earlier today.
It’s clear the Hawks have figured something out without Trae Young, and while this team could make a run without Trae, especially if Dejounte keeps playing the way he has since Young got injured, they still need to get Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu back because having to consistently rely on Vit Krejci and Bruno Fernando to give you big minutes off the bench isn’t exactly a recipe for success in the postseason.
