Hawks can still have year they expected if they can 'weather the storm'

The Atlanta Hawks fell to the New York Knicks on Monday night and fell to a season-worst five games below .500. The Hawks have lost seven of their last eight games.

While it's certainly been a tough stretch, it wasn't one that was completely unexpected.

Between the numerous injuries to key players like De'Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic, and the increased difficulty of the schedule recently, a losing streak was somewhat foreseen.

Atlanta Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk joined John and Hugh on Tuesday morning and expressed patience at the position the Hawks currently find themselves in and also continued to provide optimism at where they can be.

"We're not where we want to be but there's a long way to go," says Schlenk. "We're 2.5 games out of fourth in the East, it's not like we're 10 games back. We're right there in the mix, going to get some guys back in the next two to three weeks to help. [We] just got to weather the storm, play hard every single night, and just get a couple wins between now and when we get guys back."
