The Atlanta Hawks playoff run was short-lived and, after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals the previous year, could only be considered a setback and letdown.
When asked about the offseason plans for the team, Atlanta Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk pulled no punches in the direction he plans to take this team.

"We made the decision last year to run the same group back and we probably should have tried to upgrade as opposed to stay status quo," says Schlenk. "The way the season ended we're going to try to upgrade the roster moving forward into next season."
The Hawks finished a disappointing regulars season as the 9 seed, eventually winning the 8 seed in the play-in tournament before being bounced in five games by the top-seeded Miami Heat.
