It was reported last week that the Atlanta Hawks were open to trading the sixth overall pick in the NBA Draft, and with a week left until the draft, trade talks and rumors are beginning to heat up.

Marc Stein of The New York Times reports that the New Orleans Pelicans, have been in talks with the Hawks to trade former all-star point guard Jrue Holiday to Atlanta involving the sixth pick in a potential multi-team trade.

Holiday, 30, is owed $26.2 million in 2020-21 but is expected to decline his $21 million option for the 2021-22 season and become a free agent next summer.

Holiday averaged 19.1 points per game in 61 games last season and can bring a strong veteran presence to the Hawks.

Kevin O'Donnell from The Ringer reported Wednesday morning that the Minnesota Timberwolves, who currently hold the No. 1 overall pick, are wanting to acquire a second lottery pick and have also been in talks with Atlanta.

That deal could center around the Timberwolves No. 6 overall pick last year, Jarrett Culver and the Hawks 17th overall pick.

The Boston Celtics are another team interested in trading for Atlanta's pick.

The Hawks finished the 2019-20 shortened season with a 20-47 record and believe they can make a strong playoff push with a big offseason.

In a very weak draft class, the Hawks are looking to add more talent around their young core of Trae Young, John Collins, Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter and De'Andre Hunter.
