Georgia's young talent capable of impacting 2026 success

With the start of their 2026 college football season less than a month away, the Georgia Bulldogs continue preparing with the second week of fall camp underway, giving Kirby Smart time to learn about his team and which players he will be calling on often this season.

“You’re going to have to play your high-end guys or guys that are able to contribute maybe earlier than you would perhaps like,” Connor Riley of Dawg Nation and the AJC.com, said as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and explained why he believes Smart may more than likely have to call on some of his younger players this season.

And while the thought of Smart relying on members of Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class to have an impact on Georgia’s success, Riley explains why he believes they will be ready to step up to the challenge. “Look, I’ve been as critical as anyone of the way Georgia’s recruited and finished the 2026 recruiting cycle, I’m wiling to admit already that I’m pretty sure I got the read wrong,” Riley said.

“Yes, they have the number seven ranked recruiting class, this is every bit as good as some of those previous recruiting classes that they bought in when they were top three, and in some years, the number one class,” Riley said highlighting several Georgia freshman, including tight end Kaiden Prothro, Riley described as “a rare athlete” he believes will be pivotal in Georgia’s passing game, and offensive lineman, Zykie Helton, who “Georgia loves what he brings to the table,” according to Riley.
