With the end to the NBA playoffs is still a couple months away, the Atlanta Hawks offseason is already underway with the team beginning to make moves as they recently removed Landry Fields from their general manger position and announced they are searching for a new president of basketball operations.

And while front office changes are taking place for the Hawks, they still have some time before any player personnel moves can be made towards constructing a roster which can be an Eastern Conference contender. “What elements do we have outside of Trae (Young),” Carl Dukes asked on Thursday as he and Mike Bell discussed the NBA Playoffs and shared thoughts on what they believe the Hawks need to do in order to find themselves in postseason play next year.

“Are you paying attention to how these teams are built and what they look like,” Dukes said as he explained why he believes the Hawks have not put together the right pieces around Young which would allow the team to be more competitive the past few seasons as they have struggled to get past the play-in round for the last four seasons.

“There are big decisions that need to be made which is why this hire is going to be a big deal,” Dukes said as he expressed why he believes the individual hired for the president of basketball operations position will be vital to how the Hawks attack the offseason. “How do we advance this thing without proven pieces,” Bell asked as he expressed his concerns about the Hawks future.
