Atlanta Hawks sideline reporter Kelly Crull joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the Hawks' struggles and at what point do Trae Young and John Collins have to step up late in games?
Crull talked about the need for Trae and JC to take over late in games.
“I feel like your two best players needing to get touches in the fourth quarter, that’s a no-brainer," Crull said. "I do believe that’s something a coach sits guys down during timeouts and he sees that trend and says 'OK guys, these guys have to get touches.' First of all, though I don’t know why you have to tell Trae and JC to take over a game, they’re NBA players and these guys have played their whole lives at the highest level and they’ve always been the it guy to get the ball.
“So I don’t know why they weren’t getting touches last night, I don’t know why they weren’t demanding those touches themselves, because they’re the type of guys who should want to take over a game. I don’t feel like LP should. But I do know I’ve watched coaches, some really good ones sit guys down and basically say this is the play we’re running, go out and execute it and if you don’t I will sit you right here beside me and we can watch this game finish out together from the bench.”
