The Atlanta Hawks close out a 5-game homestand tonight against Portland before heading out on a very unusual 4-game, 2-city road trip as they will play a pair of games in Miami on Saturday and Monday followed by a pair of games in Washington DC on Wednesday and Friday.

Atlanta Hawks Broadcaster Steve Holman discusses the odd planned road-trip, whether the scheduling quirk could become more commonplace, and the impact it could have on the Hawks playoff or play-in chances.

While it's common for NBA teams to stay in certain cities for multiple games, like Los Angeles to take on the Clippers one game and the Lakers another, or New York City to face the Knicks one night and the Nets another, it's a scheduling rarity to face the same team in the same city in two consecutive games.

The Hawks have routinely seen home-and-home series the last few years, where they might face Miami, Charlotte, Memphis, or Orlando in back-to-back games where one is at State Farm Arena and the other game is played at the visiting teams arena, but rarely one where they face the same team twice in a row in the same building.

The Hawks are currently sitting at 31-31 in the 8th seed with the Miami Heat just a game-and-a-half ahead of them an the Washington Wizards one game behind them.
