The Atlanta Hawks are on the verge of making the playoffs for the first time since 2017. That seems like many moons ago for a team that was pretty consistent in getting to the postseason prior to it being torn down several years ago.
The Hawks currently are in 5th place in the eastern conference, and they are pushing to have home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. One guy that has been one of the main factors to get the Hawks to this point is Clint Capela.
Capela was acquired in a 4 team trade in which the Hawks gave up Evan Turner and a lottery protected first round pick.
Kurt Helin, of NBC Sports, joined Jon Chuckery to talk about the type of effect that Capela has had on this squad since he joined last February. "In basketball circles, there's a lot of people talking about the year he's had" Helin said. Trae Young is hands down the best player on this team, but there is no doubt that the most valuable player has been Clint Capela.
