Kobe Bufkin, the Atlanta Hawks 2023 first-round draft pick, stopped by Dukes & Bell Monday to discuss his new home and what it was like being drafted No. 15 overall. Bufkin discussed why he chose to wear the #4 to honor his namesake, Kobe Bryant.
“Usually I try to wear 2 or 4 because of Kobe, but never 24 or 8. That’s really the significance of it, trying to carry a piece of it with me,” Bufkin explained.
During his time at Michigan, Bufkin averaged 14 PPG/1.3 Steals/35% 3PT & 85% FT. He is considered an all-around player who could contribute some to the Hawks immediately, but will have to put on size and improve on his shooting to make a significant impact at the NBA level.
