Walt Weiss doesn't deserve blame for putting Dylan Lee in game when he did

Atlanta Braves Manager Walt Weis

Earlier today on The Morning Shift, Mike Johnson, Ali Mac, and Beau Morgan explained why they think Atlanta Braves Manager Walt Weiss doesn't deserve blame for taking out Braves starting pitcher Tyler Mahle and putting in Braves relief pitcher Dylan Lee in yesterday’s Wild Card playoff game against the Philadelphia Phillies when he did even though Lee ended up giving up back-to-back solo home runs that tied the game for the Phillies.

“That’s exactly what I want my Manager to do is not overthink it and go with what your gut is.” Beau Morgan said

Until he gave up that first home run to Kyle Schwarber, Dylan Lee had not given up a home run to a left handed hitter all season long, and despite some struggles late in the regular season Lee had looked good pretty much all season long, and had a very good outing in his inning of work in game one, so it makes total sense that Walt went to the guy that’s gotten the job done for him all season long.

Dylan just made two bad pitches and paid for them both, and now the Braves have to win tonight to keep their season going.
