News dropped on Monday afternoon that the Dallas Mavericks have formed their version of a "Big 3" with the addition of Klay Thompson. The four-time champion signed a three-year $50 million dollar deal to team up with Luka Dončić & Kyrie Irving.
Thompson brings a championship pedigree the Mavs lacked in the NBA Finals as they fell at the hands of the Boston Celtics. This is the exact type of move the Hawks have been unable to make around their star in Trae Young. Dejounte Murray was supposed to be that running mate but it never materialized on the court.
The Hawks still have plenty of time to make a money move that will give Young the backcourt mate he has needed his entire career. For now, however, the team remains tight on cash and cap space and will need to make several moves to make the most of their roster.
