Atlanta Hawks Head Coach Nate McMillan joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the challenging style of play the Sixers have and how will the Hawks game plan for the Sixers MVP candidate Joel Embiid?
When asked about how the team is preparing for Embiid if he is healthy enough to play.
“Well nobody’s 100 percent this time of the season, all guys got something going on with them this time of the season. But we are preparing as if he’s going to play,” McMillan said. “That team has shown that they can play, they’re certainly really good with him, but they’ve been able to play without him. You don’t become the number one seed if you can’t play with injuries.”
“He is the guy basically they go through and play through to establish they’re style of play. He’s an MVP candidate this season, and well deserved, he’s a monster in the paint, he’s playing more in the paint than he has been his whole career. Somewhat old-school basketball that Philadelphia is playing where you are playing through the post as opposed to the perimeter. Most teams in this league over the last few years they playing from the outside in, Philadelphia’s playing from the inside out.”
