Atlanta Hawks owner Tony Ressler joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the season the team including a tremendous playoff run and how the team might handle resigning John Collins this offseason.
Ressler talked about the John Collins situation.
“John Collins is not just a freaky good basketball player, he’s a really good person, a really smart person who is trying to be a great business man as well,” Ressler said. “We do have enormous respect for John’s talent and for him as a person, so of course we want him here. But at the end of the day, we’re trying to do a reasonable contract, just as he is trying to get a fair contract.”
“Does the respect and affection we have for John get into it? Of course it does, John proved not just this year, John spent four seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, this is his first playoff, he never complained, John is a really high quality person and a good player. So of course we’re going to do everything we can, I think what Travis was reflecting is what we already knew, which is John is the kind of guy you want in your franchise.”
