Atlanta Hawks CEO Steve Koonin joined Dukes for his weekly appearance on the show to talk about our Atlanta Hawks. Steve talked about the thought process of trading Cam Reddish, and why the trade happened when it did.
When asked if this trade was the result of the team’s poor play of late.
“This was contemplated and discussed for quite a while,” said Koonin. “To say that this was the output of that would not be accurate, at all.”
Koonin told the guys that this was something Reddish asked for.
“Cam wanted to be traded, asked for a trade because he wants to maximize his career and felt that he was a starter and a candidate to be a player that could reach higher goals than he could achieve here. So we worked to accommodate that, we had all the respect for Cam and have all the respect in the world. But it gives us more bargaining chips as we’re trying to make this team better as we have to get better.”
