Audacy NBA Insider Ryan McDonough stopped by Dukes & Bell for his weekly visit on Wednesday and discussed a player that is potentially on the market that could greatly help the Atlanta Hawks. Jazz All-Star Center Rudy Gobert could be available and McDonough thinks he and Trae Young could form a special tandem.

“I think the Jazz front office did not think a team led by Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert would be good enough to win a championship. I think Gobert is potentially in play, he does command a big salary, and he has some pronounced strengths and weaknesses. But the more I thought about his fit with the Hawks, the more I like it,” McDonough said.

McDonough added that the duo plays off each other well on both sides of the court.

“I think that Rudy and Trae, that fire and ice offense and defense, their strengths and weakness compliment each other well. I think of Rudy as a lob threat for Trae and then also helping Trae defensively as a backline defender and rim protector.”
