Is Trae Young the type of star other players in the NBA want to play with? That was the question Mark Zinno asked on The A to Z Show on Sunday. Young's talent is well documented and he is one of the best offensive players in the league. His defense is a different situation.
When discussing the defensive woes of Trae Young, Zinno said, "Its about effort...how bad do you want it?" Up to this point in his career, the effort has not consistently been there from Young.
Trading for Dejounte Murray will alleviate some of the problems caused by Young's defensive inefficiency, but more importantly having another high-caliber guard who can lead by example on the defense could be what Young needs to be motivated on that end of the floor.
Then you have the other question. Is Trae willing to put in that effort? Zinno brought up the rumored strife between the star guard and fellow teammate, John Collins, and at time the coaching staff. Some could get the impression that Trae Young is in need of an attitude adjustment.
A focused, completely bought in Trae Young could be the best point guard in the NBA. Many believe he can lead a team to hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy at the end of a season...if those adjustments are made, but is the Hawks' All-Star willing to change? Only time will tell.
