Trae Young was the Eastern Conference 2nd leading fan vote-getter, which should have made him an NBA All Star Game starter, but the process unfortunately isn't that simple, and the league also includes media vote and player vote as part of their equation, and it cost Trae his spot in the starting lineup, but maybe it won't work that way moving forward.
In 2017 the NBA moves from purely the fan vote deciding the starters to a weighted process including the media and player votes, but you have to wonder if the league would reconsider due to snubbed starters like Trae Young and others.
