Josef Martinez is back! After coming on as a second half sub in Atlanta United's first CONCACAF Champions League match, Josef started and played into the second half in the home leg against Alajuelense.
Martinez, who missed most of the 2020 MLS campaign with an ACL tear, has looked forward to his MLS return and there is no better team to open the MLS season with than against United's biggest rival and a team Josef has dominated against, Orlando City.
Atlanta United Analyst Jason Longshore spoke about Josef's MLS return and what to expect from him on Saturday.
"Physically I'm not seeing any major issues, I'm seeing a delayed reaction just because he hasn't played matches. The rhythm isn't there," says Longshore. "You have a lot of guys who can feed #7 and if you get him hot he is one of the most dangerous players this league has ever seen."
