Better defense will be a must for Hawks in Boston series

Jon chuckery breaks down why the Hawks will need to play better defensively to take the Boston series

As the Atlanta Hawks prepare to take on the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs, there is one area in particular that 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery believes is a must for the team to play better than previously in and that is defense. “One thing the Hawks did not do very well in the three games against the Celtics, was they didn’t play a lot of good defense,” Chuckery said on Friday night.

The two teams met three times during the regular season and Boston average 126.7 points per game during the three matchups, which was the most that Atlanta had allowed to an Eastern Conference opponent as well as 52.2 percent field goal shooting in the regular season series with the Celtics, who also shot 46 percent from the three-point line. “Number one, first and foremost, those numbers have got to get better and this is where Quin Snyder is going to earn his money,” Chuckery continued.
