We’re just three days away from the Georgia Bulldogs taking the field in one of the most storied rivalry games in the country as they will take on the Florida Gators Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida and for head coach, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs, who have been dealing with injuries, most notably, the loss of tight end Brock Bowers, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the win over Vanderbilt, seeing multiple players active in practice this week gives reason for there to be a positive outlook this weekend.
Wednesday on The Steakhouse with Steak Shapiro and Rusty Mansell, as the two looked ahead to Saturday’s showdown between the Dawgs and Gators, Mansell shared that signs were pointing to the possible return of Georgia offensive tackle, Amarius Mims, who had been sidelined with the same injury as Bowers in Georgia’s win over South Carolina. Mansell pointed out that Mims previously went through the tight rope surgery for his injured ankle and with the “additional bye weeks, those extra two weeks” he has had six weeks for recovery “which will be big” for Mims’ return to the Dawgs.
In addition to Mims possibly suiting up on Saturday, Mansell shared that Xavier Truss, who filled in for Mims, but also suffered an ankle injury in the Vanderbilt game, along with Ladd McConkey, who has been working his way back in after dealing with back problems since prior to the start of the season, had been active in an attempt to play on Saturday. “Got to have that third down security blanket,” Mansell said of McConkey.
