Blessed Trinity keeps title defense continues with title game berth
The 2025-2026 Georgia High School Association soccer season is winding down and the defending Class 4A champions kept their title defense going with a 3-0 win over Midtown to advance to the state title game. "It's tougher the second time. It always is," Blessed Trinity head coach, Johnny Jackson said of the Titans continuing their quest to repeat as state champions.
"We're just excited. We've been growing and getting better all year," Jackson continued as he praised his team for their continued efforts to improve throughout the season as they entered the year with several key players from last years team having graduated. "We really feel like we're actually maybe even playing just as good, if not better soccer than we were last year," Jackson said of the Titans who he says played "as a team" all throughout the season.
With Thursday's win, the Titans how now won 15 matches in a row and what may be even more impressed is the fact Blessed Trinity has only allowed three goals in that stretch, keeping their last 10 opponents scoreless. "It's tough to lose if you don't give up goals," Jackson said as he credited the Titans defense, which has allowed a total of six goals this season.
"We're playing safe and smart. We have good players back there that make great decisions. They know when they have time, they know when they can swing it around the back, they know when they need to be a little bit careful," Jackson said of the Blessed Trinity backline defense, noting they are intentional with making sure they are aware of their opponents best players at all times. "It's just a great group that comes in there and gets the job done and is very stingy and doesn't allow a lot of opportunities," Jackson said.
