The Braves look like they’re starting to become the offensive juggernaut that they were last season after scoring 32 runs in their last five games. Earlier today The Morning Shift explained why the Braves lineup should feature the same one and two hitters every single game no matter who’s pitching for the other side.
The conversation started by Mike Johnson saying he loved the Braves’ lineup last night against the Detroit Tigers and then Beau Morgan emphatically agreed by saying “Leave [Jarred] Kelenic at the leadoff.” Mike then breaks down why he thinks Jarred Kelenic and Ozzie Albies should be one and two in the Braves’ lineup every game no matter who is pitching for the opposition.
“Albies is a two-hole hitter, he’s a switch hitter, he can do whatever he needs to do, Ozuna needs to be in the three hole, don’t put him at four, don’t put him at five, especially now with the bats coming around when you go lefty, switch, righty, lefty, righty, I love that, [Adam] Duvall in that you know hole after that and then leave [Orlando] Arcia in the nine spot, but I love the way things lined up with that.” Johnson said.
Beau added to Mike’s point by explaining why he’s sick of hearing about Kelenic being platooned.
“You don’t have the luxury anymore, it’s time, he’s as hot as a hitter as they have right now, so keep him in leadoff and keep him playing everyday.”
The Braves have scored 19 runs in their past three games with Kelenic hitting leadoff and Ozzie hitting second, so something is working, and with Michael Harris out for the time being with a grade two left hamstring strain the Braves don’t have many other options, and if this one isn’t broken there’s no need to try and fix it.
