“Devastating to say the least,” Sandra Golden said, as she explained to Steak Shapiro what her reaction was after hearing the news of Ronald Acuna Jr. suffering an ACL tear and ending his season.
As the two-midday host discussed the current state of the Atlanta Braves, who currently sit at 31-21 in the National League East and trail the first place Philadelphia Phillies by five games, they shared their thoughts on the loss of Acuna Jr. in addition to Spencer Strider earlier in the season.
As they discussed the devastation of the loss of Acuna Jr., both agree that the All-Star outfielder will unfortunately have to be somewhat of an after thought as the club looks to move on this season. “It’s a long season,” Shapiro said as he explained that while the loss of Acuna Jr. is more than likely still at the top of mind of Braves’ players, in reality they have to remain focused on their ultimate goal of winning a World Series. “Listen, he’s out of sight, out of mind. They are not going to care about Ronald Acuna in another week,” Shapiro emphasized as Golden echoed his sentiments.

“Well they can’t, you have to move on,” Golden added as they both agreed that while the circumstances are unfortunate for Acuna Jr., who spoke about the emotional toll he felt when he tore his right ACL during the Braves’ 2021 World Series winning season, their will be an expectation of the Braves looking towards players to step up and help the franchise win.
“Adam Duvall is our new outfielder on a regular, we’re going to go get somebody,” Shapiro said. Click link above to hear Steak and Sandra’s conversation in its entirety:
