Atlanta Braves manager, Brian Snitker, has been a part of the organization for a combined 17 years, with a total of 10 years as a coach with the club prior to assuming managerial duties in 2016. And while the 67-year-old manager recently shared with Audacy Insider and former MLB All-Star, Bret Boone, that at one point in time, he believed that he would not get an opportunity to manage his own club, not only is he doing so, “he’s kind of creating a new dynasty,” Boone told 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery on Wednesday as the two discussed the transition of Atlanta from former manager Bobby Cox to Snitker.
Reflecting on the Braves run during the 90’s, with Boone being a member of the 99’ roster, the former second baseman told Chuckery that the mentality of the club was “World Series or bust” and that Cox set a tone for the level of expectation in performance on the field. Fast forward to the Braves run under Snitker and the team has continued to dominate in the National League East having won the division the past five seasons, with a World Series win in 2021. “I think Brian’s come in and done a hell of a job with this current group of Braves and what they’ve done in the past four or five years, kind of recreating that dynasty,” Boone told Chuckery
“They’re off to a great start this year in a tough division,” Boone added. Click link above to hear Chuckery and Boone’s conversation in its entirety:
