As the 2025-2026 Georgia High School Association soccer regular season begins to wind down, defending Class 6A champions, the Campbell Spartans, hosted the Pebblebrook Falcons in a key region showdown as the Spartans looked to remain unbeaten in region play, while the Falcons looked to create a three-way tie for first place with a win and as expected, the match did not disappoint, as the Spartans were able to hold on for a 1-0 win.

"Every time we play Pebblebrook, I can't speak highly enough about Anton [Banfield]," Campbell head coach, Troy Connelly, said as he praised the Pebblebrook head coach for the job he has done with the Falcons' program as they stood toe to toe with the Spartans throughout the entirety of the match.

"They're always so good so we knew regardless of region implications after this game, we know it's going to be a fight," Connelly aid of the match, which remained scoreless throughout the first 63 minutes despite both teams having several shots on goal come up short. However, with 17 minutes remianing in the second half and Campbell awarded a corner kick, Carlos Rosario kick would end up in the net as Trey Cline connected on a header for the goal giving the Spartans a 1-0 lead.

As the match continued and time began to dwindle, the Falcons' would earn a free kick following a yellow card issued to Campbell, however with seven seconds remaining in the game, Jonathan Delgado's kick would send the ball too high and time expired giving the Spartans the win. "We were as prepared as we could have been coming into the game," Connelly said of matchups against Walton, which they loss, and Harrison, helped them get ready to face Pebblebrook.

"We got punched right in the mouth against Walton. That game showed us a lot, we learned from it, we fixed things going into Harrison, made some more adjustments coming into this game and that was the result. So proud of the boys. So proud of them," Connelly said. Campbell will be back on the pitch Saturday, April 14 when they face Osborne.
