Creating once in a lifetime opportunities for high school student athletes is one of the things that many coaches strive to do and in the case of the Creekside Seminoles football team, a phone call from California sparked what has now become a reality.
“Well honestly, just one day last spring, Coach Dixon gave me a call and said that he had just heard from Mater Dei and they were interested in seeing if we wanted to come out west,” Dr. Mekia Troy, Creekside Athletic Director, told Sam Crenshaw and Chris Parker on Friday’s High School Scoreboard Show.
And while the Seminoles are no strangers to playing national opponents, Saturday’s match up with Mater Dei will mark the first time in the program’s history a trip to the west coast was a part of their season. “A lot of planning, but it’s finally here so we’re excited about it,” Troy would tell the guys about giving their student athletes the opportunity.
