With the 2022 NFL Draft now less than a week away, many Atlanta Falcons’ fans are torn as to how the team should use their picks on Thursday. With the emergence of Liberty quarterback and Atlanta native, Malik Willis, there are plenty of fans that would like to see Atlanta take the former Westlake and Roswell QB1 with the eighth overall pick now that they have moved on from Matt ryan.
However, fans are also in agreeance that taking a quarterback with their first pick would not be beneficial to the Falcons if they do not address the offensive line and look to better the team upfront to help keep whoever is under center upright. Defensively, there are those fans that say, that is the side of the ball the Falcons should hit first and in particularly, a top performing pass rusher is a must in their eyes.
Lastly, the late season drama surrounding wide receiver, Calvin Ridley, has left the team without a number one pass catcher, ad all fans can agree that, despite the Pro Bowl, All Rookie Team season of tight end, Kyle Pitts, The Falcons must take on filling the void left by Ridley, who was suspended indefinitely through the 2022 season for betting on games in 2021, and make that a top priority in next week’s draft.
On Thursday, Sam Crenshaw, who was sitting in for Jon Chuckery, spoke with Atlanta Journal Constitution sports writer, D. Orlando Ledbetter, who covers the Falcons, and the two shared their thoughts on what direction Atlanta should take once they are on the clock on Thursday, both agreeing that Atlanta should really consider the offensive line or a pass rusher when the time comes.
