On Sunday, the Falcons have an opportunity to string together back to back wins for the second time this season and more importantly, keep their perfect home record for the season intact, when they host the Washington Commanders. And while the Commanders have had their struggles of late with three consecutive losses, Atlanta play by play announcer, Wes Durham, reminded The Steakhouse with Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden, that just as there are no easy wins in the NFL, the Commanders are not to be taken lightly and very well possess the personal to battle the Falcons to the end.
Explaining to Shapiro and Golden that “it’s a twofold operation” as Atlanta prepares for the Commanders, pointing to the fact that have multiple players that could present challenges for the Falcons. “I think they’ve got the most underrated receiver in the league in Terry McLaurin,” Durham said of the Washington wideout, who has caught for over a thousand yards the past three seasons, “I think he’s that good,” Durham added on McLaurin.
As he continued to share his thoughts on the Commanders, Durham says that the Falcons will also have to be prepared for an air attack by Washington because quarterback Sam Howell is “not scared to throw it” and “absolutely numb to interceptions” could have the Falcons finding themselves in for a “long day” because Howell will not be hesitant to look for targets through the air. Durham then briefly pivoted to the defensive side of the ball telling Shapiro and Golden, “They’ve got guys that can absolutely stuff you,” in Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Chase Young, Montez Sweat, and James Smith Williams.
However, Durham would tell The Steakhouse that while the Commanders will be an interesting test for the Falcons, Desmond Ridder and the offense appeared to be “maturing” after last week’s win over the Texans and that on Sunday the Falcons’ test will be to “get the two-way game going” and have the Commanders “struggle once you get them down,”.
