The wait is over and now we know when the Atlanta Falcons will face their 2023 opponents as they will kick off the regular season against division foe, the Carolina Panthers, a game that will feature two of the top 10 2023 draft picks in Bijan Robinson and Carolina’s Bryce Young, who they took with the first overall pick.
With the release of the schedule, 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery hosted a special release show and was joined by several guest including Mike Johnson of the Morning Shift, voice of the Falcons, Wes Durham and Falcons Radio Network host Chris Goforth and an overall consensus between all of them was that the Falcons have a favorable schedule and a playoff run could be possible if they can keep their head above the water by the time they reach the bye week.
In his conversation with Johnson, Chuckery briefly shared his thoughts on a few of the Falcons opponents and while he admits to being unsure on how good those teams may be, he believes that despite three of the final four games of the season being on the road, “there could be some hay to make if the Falcons can get it together through first three quarters of the season,” Chuckery said.
Johnson concurred and pointed to the fact that this season, the Falcons’ bye week comes at a point in the season in which they will still have seven games remaining on the schedule and of the seven, only their December 3 date with the Jets being of any concern and the remaining games being favorable matchups for Atlanta.
“I would say this, after the bye week and even before you’re at the Cardinals the week before the bye week, I love the way the bye week kind of shapes in the middle of this schedule and really, if you can just hold your head above water by the time you get to the bye week, I don’t think there’s really anything that dangerous down the stretch after Thanksgiving that’s going to lead you to anything but hopefully a playoff run,” Johnson said in response to Chuckery.
