With their final preseason game coming up on Thursday, the Atlanta Falcons will soon be turning their eyes to their Week 1 showdown with division rival, the Carolina Panthers. And while more than likely, starters for the Falcons will not see the field on Thursday, 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery shared with NFL Network’s Chief National reporter, Steve Wyche, that “this looks a better Falcons team, this looks like a more talented Falcons team,” after seeing them play in the first two preseason games.
Chuckery would go on to tell Wyche that he also believes “there’s a lot to be excited about,” with the Falcons and that essentially, they took care of business thus far in the preseason. Jokingly, Wyche responded to Chuckery’s comments sharing that Atlanta ‘better look like a more talented team with all the money they spent,” to acquire several free agents including Jessie Bates, Calais Campbell and David Onyemata. Wyche continued to share that the Falcons finally having the ability to spend money to improve their team was something they needed.
“They finally had money,” Wyche said, adding noting that Atlanta did not attempt to bring in a big named player to get them “over the top,” instead they decide to “add to some of the fundamental building blocks across our defensive front,” an area new defensive coordinator, Ryan Nielsen has established himself on. As their conversation continued, Wyche also points out that Atlanta utilized the draft to add the offensive pieces they needed and ultimately “stuck to a process, they didn’t get the big eyes,”.
