A Jalen Carter visit to Falcons should not change Atlanta's draft strategy

On Sunday evening it was reported by several outlets that former Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Jalen Carter would be paying a visit to the Falcons on Monday. The report drew raised eyebrows, as it was wondered if this was an official visit for Carter. NFL rule states that clubs are only able to schedule 30 prospect visits prior to the draft.

Weather his visit was “official” or not, the questions wondering if Atlanta would take him if he were available at No. 8 were drummed up once again. Falcons head coach Arthur Smith and GM Terry Fontenot were both in attendance at UGA’s Pro Day.

“I know we’ve said all along if he’s there at eight, and there is a chance because we don’t know how the draft will turn out, I don’t know, I just don’t feel like this is going to happen," Carl Dukes explained.

Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, had previously stated that he would only be taking visits for teams picking within the top 10 in the upcoming draft.
