When the 2023 college football season began, there were a lot of questions as to whether or not the Georgia Bulldogs could be as dominant as they have been the past two seasons. And while many of the questions circulated around the defense, the offense was the topic of conversation just as much as the Dawgs would have a new signal-caller under center. Insert Carson Beck, who was officially named the Georgia starting quarterback in mid-August. Then Georgia picked up where they left off and now find themselves back in the SEC title game for the third consecutive season.
And as for any doubt related to how well Beck would play this season, to date, he has thrown for 3,495 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions with a QBR of 85.4 and has Georgia three wins away from claiming their third consecutive national championship. On Wednesday, during The Steakhouse, while having a conversation about the 2023 class of college football quarterbacks, Steak Shapiro and Rusty Mansell shared their thoughts on how well Beck has played this season, and his draft stock has increased ahead of next season.
As their discussion continued, Mansell explained that while he does not see any scenario in which Beck would declare for the 2024 NFL Draft, he believes that with a good offseason and another solid performance next season for the Dawgs, in which they will face the likes of Texas and Alabama during the regular season, Beck could potentially find himself as a top-15 pick.
“So if you’re Carson Beck, the reason you come back is you think you can be under 15, you can be in the top 15 picks," said Mansell. "Cause right now, if Carson Beck comes out, he’s going in the first round,” Mansell told Shapiro, adding that it could be late in the round.
