The race to be selected for the College Football Playoff is on and some of the regulars may already be on the outside looking in, which opens up some very interesting scenarios moving forward.
Clemson, who has been in every College Football Playoff since 2015, already has two losses and has essentially been eliminated. Ohio State lost at home, still has the rest of its Big Ten schedule to play, and seems to be on the outside looking in as well.
With those two teams set to miss this years playoffs, could we be set up to see something we've never seen before, one conference getting THREE teams into the four-team playoff.
"There is a scenario I can paint where three SEC teams get into the playoffs. That scenario is Florida beats Georgia, then beats Alabama in a rematch, and you end up with Florida at 12-1, Alabama at 12-1, and Georgia at 11-1," says John Fricke. "You can make a case where all three would belong in."
While it's still a longshot and there are a number of teams still in better position to be selected, if the season plays out in this one specific way, it may be tough to avoid.

The Big Ten could cannibalize itself leaving zero undefeated teams, and unless Oklahoma figures itself out, the Big 12 could be without a proper candidate, and nobody seems to trust that Oregon can run the table either.
If it plays out perfectly, it might be nearly impossible to avoid having a trio of SEC teams battling it out for the title.
