The Georgia Bulldogs have made national news about who should be their starter at quarterback. Georgia has had many highly recruited quarterbacks come through, but Kirby Smart has taken a lot of heat as of late because he may have let the wrong guys leave.
D’Wan Mathis started for a quarter, and did not look like he was prepared to play in the season opener against Arkansas. In comes Stetson Bennett to give the Bulldogs a spark, but he has had his struggles as of late as well. There is a specific quarterback battle though that Georgia fans will probably never forget.
Chip Towers, of the AJC, joined Dukes and Bell and he wanted to dispel a rumor about one particular quarterback competition. "The national narrative that Georgia chose Jake Fromm over Justin Fields is just not true" Towers said.
If given the opportunity, there were some who believed that Fields would have beat out Fromm if he did not transfer to Ohio State.
Now that both Fields and Fromm are gone, it leaves Kirby Smart holding the blame bag because he put all of his trust in a grad transfer instead of handling the Fromm vs. Fields situation correctly.
