As the college football season approaches Alabama coach Nick Saban talked about former UGA receiver Jermaine Burton, who transferred to Tuscaloosa this offseason, and did Saban take a shot at Kirby Smart and the Dawgs in his explanation? Dukes & Bell talked about why Saban might not be wrong but why the need to throw shade?
Mike talked about Saban’s comments.
“Listen to this, this is from Chip Towers and he asked Jermaine Burton why he went over to Alabama, and he never really gave a straight answer other than he had a relationship with Bryce Young going back when he played in Southern California, taking care of his family. He never really specifically said any reason why he went to Bama,” Bell said. “But Chip went back and pulled what Nick Saban had to say last spring ‘Burton might have seen a better opportunity because we’re a little bit more wide open and throw the ball more with a good quarterback’ said Nick Saban back in the spring, them fighting words.”
Dukes asked the question are Saban’s comments wrong?
“Let me ask you has Nick Saban had better quarterback play the last five, six years? He has, going back to Jalen Hurts, Tua, Mac Jones and now Bryce Young, the thing is the Dawgs won the national championship but I don’t think there’s any debate about the quarterback position and the guys they’ve had there. He’s not wrong, they have had those big explosive plays down the field, it’s one of the reasons why they’ve been in national championship games, but why you throwing shade?”
