ESPN College Football analyst David Pollack joined Dukes & Bell to help the guys recap SEC and talked about if the expectations that Georgia can repeat as National Champions is unrealistic.
When asked if UGA can repeat as national champions.
“When was the last time Georgia won a national title before last year? Forty-years? So we expect another one, two in two years? I would say that’s unrealistic expectations,” Pollack said. “I think they’re gonna be really good but defensively that was an historic defense, that you’ve never seen anything like that, I mean that’s the best defensive front seven in the history of college football. Five guys drafted in the first round, fifteen draft picks off that team is gone, they’re gonna have to learn on the fly defensively. You’re gonna be twice as bad defensively, you’re gonna give up, probably twenty points a game which will still be top thirty in the country but it’s gonna be that much worse than it was.”
Pollack talked about who he thinks is the best team in college football going into the season.
“I think Georgia’s gonna be right there in the mix, I think they’re gonna be really good but I think Alabama clearly has the best roster. Nick Saban didn’t forget how to coach just because they lost one year, transfer portal they answered everything they needed to answer and get done, I think it’s gonna be extremely tough for anybody to get over Bama.”
