The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets escaped Thursday evening with a 30-29 victory over North Carolina State, in a game that featured fourth-quarter heroics by Jackets backup quarterback Aaron Philo.

Georgia Tech brought their record to 7-4 in head coach Brent Key’s second full season at his alma mater. The Yellow Jackets have one regular season game to go, then it will be off to a bowl game in a season where Georgia Tech handed defeats to both Florida State and Miami as well.

But it will not be an easy road to Tech’s bowl game, as that one last remaining regular season game? It is against the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia leads the all-time series between these two schools 71-41-5, and many (Georgia Fans) say that it is not even a rivalry anymore, as Georgia Tech has not won this matchup since 2019. This year is a little different though.

For Georgia, a loss would all but eliminate them from the College Football Playoff. For Georgia Tech, a win against Georgia would put an exclamation mark on a great year for Key, regardless of how their bowl game goes.

Georgia has a lot on the line in this game this year, more than they have had in quite some time. And while Georgia Tech has much to celebrate after a great comeback win against the Wolfpack, they'd better start getting ready for that team from Athens, because they will be waiting around the corner, just like the Boogeyman should.

Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael talk about Tech’s big win, and their chances vs UGA in just over a week.
