In an era in which college football coaches have to face many challenges in regards to recruiting players and maintain their rosters, the Georgia Bulldogs may be the one team that has helped ease some of the pressure for head coach Kirby Smart, especially following the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX win over the Chiefs on Sunday.
Thanks to a dominating defensive performance, which included six sacks of Patrick Mahomes and two interceptions, Philadelphia defeated Kansas City 40-22, winning their second championship in eight years, and several former Bulldogs played very significant roles for the Eagles, not only this Sunday, but all season.
“The Georgia football program has a place in Philadelphia,” sports radio host, John Kincaid told Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden on Tuesday as he joined the Steakhouse and shared his thoughts on how the former Georgia football players, now affectionately known as the “Philly Dawgs” have been embraced by the Eagles and their fan base.
“People know the Dawgs for who they are,” Kincaid continued as he, Shapiro and Golden discussed the influence of the Georgia football culture, which has made its way into the Philadelphia locker room, in players like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Nolan Smith Jr.
“It’s a culture that they brought with them from Athens cultivated under Kirby Smart and his amazing staff,” Kincaid said of the former Bulldogs, who he believes recognized how “football crazed” the city of Philadelphia is. “These guys are rock stars now,” Kincaid told Shapiro and Golden.
