The Georgia Men’s basketball program is now in its second year under head coach Mike White, who has had an immediate and steadily growing impact on the Bulldogs’ program. In the season prior to White’s arrival, Georgia finished 6-26 overall and 1-17 in conference play. After taking over the program, White led the Dawgs to a 16-16 finish for the 2022 campaign. Fast forward to this season and at 13-5, Georgia is just three wins away from matching last season’s win total which includes a 10-game win streak.
“I think it just shows that we can play with anybody in the country,” Georgia guard, Jabri Abdur-Rahim told Steak Shapiro and Drew Butler on Tuesday when he joined The Steakhouse and spoke to what he believes the Dawgs can takeaway from some of their close losses to top 10 ranked opponents. “We felt that way all year, it’s just showing now that we get to do it in front of a bunch of people,” Abdur-Rahim added, expressing to Shapiro and Butler that they believe they “have the talent” to compete with the likes of No. 5 Tennessee, who they nearly upset but fell short in the 85-79 loss.
“When we come up short, obviously it sucks but just proving that we’re able to play on that stage and we’re able to compete and we feel like we should win against these teams,” Abdur-Rahim told Shapiro and Butler and later adding that White’s ability to “recruit really good players off the court and that’s really helped our chemistry on the court,” reach Abdur-Rahim believes is important in this era of the transfer portal and NIL.
