Kirby Smart met the media ahead of the first spring practice of 2025. Smart was asked about topics including bringing in a heap of new faces to the program, the state of QB 1 and the return of WR Colbie Young. Another important topic was the offseason criticism directed to offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and offensive line coach Stacy Searels.
The duo were under fire in 2024 when QB Carson Beck failed to live up to the preseason hype that included Heisman Trophy projections. The running game never came online fully and a highly-touted offensive line struggled to protect Beck consistently. Smart decided to not make changes in the offseason and a revamped offense with several key transfers will hope to get the unit back on track.
UGA will be tasked with getting back to the top of the college football mountaintop during the 12-team playoff era. The Bulldogs will almost certainly be right near that threshold, but it's as hard to win a title as ever in the sport.
