Earlier this week Andy & Randy were joined by DawgNationDaily Host Brandon Adams and talked to Adams about the biggest reason to trust Kirby Smart heading into the College Football Playoff and the semifinal Peach Bowl matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
“We talked a lot about the Braves General Manager Alex Anthopoulos today BA (Brandon Adams) and just the general trust that you have in him no matter what it is he does, Kirby (Smart) is pretty close to the same I would imagine…if you had to give the number one example, like the top example, of the reason why you trust Kirby Smart to keep this thing rolling what would it be?” Andy asked Adams.
“Well I think for me it comes down to track record. You make the comparison to Anthopoulos you know the trade the Braves made (referencing the acquisition of Sean Murphy from the A’s) it seems a little strange but when a guy like Anthopoulos does it well you assume there must be some bigger picture here or some sort of insight that he has because of the success he has had. And the same thing is kind of true here for Kirby Smart here as well. In fact the best example of this might be Stetson Bennett because Kirby said this at the Heisman Trophy ceremony, we kept thinking over and over again he wasn’t going to be good enough…last year Kirby did a very strange thing. He benched J.T.
Daniels in favor of Stetson Bennett...that’s the kind of thing that is unorthodox. It takes a lot of self-confidence to make a decision like that,” Adams replied.
You can hear Andy & Randy Monday-Friday from 11a-2p on 92.9 The Game.
