Now that Alabama star safety Caleb Downs is in the transfer portal the college football world is waiting to see where he will land. Georgia currently seems like the favorite to land the first team All-SEC safety and Alabama’s leading tackler from this past season with Downs being a Georgia native out of Hoschton Georgia. However, if Caleb is going to be a Dawg Co-Owner and Publisher of Dawgs HQ, Rusty Mansell the decision will come “quick”.
Academically if he’s going to Georgia this has gotta be quick, like this thing has got to be done and announced and enrolled I would say at some point tomorrow at the latest to me.”
Rusty also went on to say that the “Timing for him as a student athlete he needs to get enrolled and get caught up and get into class to be able to participate wherever he goes for spring practice now.”
Rusty also talked about how “academics” seems like the bad word now in college football, but is obviously still important for college athletes, so if Downs is destined to be a Dawg expect that announcement sooner rather than later, and for Georgia fans the longer no news is heard will probably actually be bad news for the Bulldogs.
